Prabowo Announces Next Year’s Independence Day Ceremony to be Held in Nusantara

East Kalimantan, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto announced that next year’s Independence Day ceremony will once again take place in Nusantara, the new capital city in East Kalimantan. Prabowo made the announcement while accompanying President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at a press conference following the Independence Day flag-lowering ceremony on Saturday.

However, Prabowo did not confirm whether the ceremony would also be held simultaneously at both Merdeka Palace in Jakarta and the State Palace in Nusantara, as it was this year. “We’ll see later, but the ceremony will definitely be held here in Nusantara,” Prabowo stated.

This year marked a historic moment for Indonesia, as the nation held its first Independence Day ceremony in Nusantara, symbolizing the country’s transition to the new capital. The ceremony was led by President Jokowi, with Prabowo by his side, signaling continuity and unity in the face of Indonesia’s significant changes.

Meanwhile, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin attended the ceremony at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, accompanied by Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, further highlighting the shared responsibilities across the nation’s leadership.

The theme for this year’s Independence Day celebrations was “New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia,” a reflection of Indonesia’s ambitious move to its new capital and the impending government transition under the leadership of Prabowo Subianto.
