Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Rising Moroccan tennis talent Lina Bezza has claimed the Under-16 African Championship title in the singles category, following a commanding performance in the tournament held in Cairo, Egypt, from April 15 to 19.

Bezza secured her championship on Saturday, defeating Egyptian player Zeina El Gherby in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, in a dominant final match that showcased her skill, composure, and tactical excellence on the court.

The tournament, which gathered some of Africa’s most promising young tennis players, featured a series of competitive matches over five days in the Egyptian capital.

Morocco’s strong showing continued in the same category as Reda El Aouni secured third place, taking home the bronze medal. El Aouni triumphed after his opponent, Tunisian player Ahmed Dermoul, was forced to retire following the first set of the third-place match. El Aouni had convincingly won the set 6-1.

The impressive performances by both Bezza and El Aouni highlight Morocco’s growing presence in youth tennis on the continental stage.
