President Erdogan Vows to Eradicate Terror Threats
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to countering terrorism “at its source,” emphasizing that no force will deter the nation from eliminating any threats against it, both within its borders and beyond. His remarks came during an address at the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) headquarters in Ankara, which recently suffered a terrorist attack, resulting in the tragic loss of five lives.
President Erdogan condemned the attack, which he described as “the last efforts of the separatist organisation,” referring to the PKK terrorist group. “Terror has no place in the future of Türkiye or our region,” he declared, asserting that such acts only strengthen Türkiye’s resolve in the fight against terrorism. The PKK, recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S., and the EU, has been responsible for over 40,000 deaths in its 40-year campaign against the country.
Highlighting Türkiye’s strides in defense, Erdogan underscored the nation’s self-sufficiency in the industry, with more than a thousand domestic projects and a $100 billion project portfolio. He also noted Türkiye’s standing as the world’s leading UAV producer, with Turkish firms accounting for 65% of armed drone sales globally since 2018. “If they have Iron Dome, we will have Steel Dome,” he added, referring to Türkiye’s plans to advance its air defense systems and missile capabilities.
In a resolute conclusion, Erdogan vowed that Türkiye would continue its journey toward full independence in defense, asserting, “We will work harder in defiance of traitors; we will produce more in defiance of scoundrels; we will develop more in defiance of imperialists.”
