President Ilham Aliyev Meets Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif on COP29 Sidelines
Baku, The Gulf Observer: On November 13, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan during the COP29 climate summit, as reported by media outlets. The Prime Minister conveyed greetings from Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, which President Aliyev warmly acknowledged, extending his own greetings in return.
Prime Minister Sharif congratulated President Aliyev on the successful hosting of COP29 and expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s leadership in convening this major international event. He also praised President Aliyev’s impactful speech at the World Leaders Climate Action Summit, held as part of COP29’s opening ceremonies.
In their discussions, the two leaders reflected on President Aliyev’s previous visit to Pakistan, underscoring the significance of the talks and agreements established during that visit for strengthening Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations. They explored avenues for enhanced collaboration in investment, economy, and trade, and noted the frequent exchanges of delegations, which have been instrumental in fostering mutual ties. The leaders also highlighted their strong cooperation within international organizations and underscored the strategic importance of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Pakistan trilateral partnership.
