President Jokowi attends AZEC Summit
Tokyo, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo continued his third day of working visit in Tokyo, Japan, by attending the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Summit at the Prime Minister’s Office of Japan on Monday.
According to a written statement received here in Jakarta, Monday, President Widodo arrived at the Prime Minister’s Office at around 10:05 a.m. local time on Monday and was immediately welcomed by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
The state leaders conducted a photo session together before heading to another photo session location along with the other state leaders. President Widodo and Prime Minister Kishida appeared to be engaged in a conversation while walking together.
President Widodo, Prime Minister Kishida, and several other state leaders then conducted a photo session together. In the photo session’s formation, President Widodo stood between Kishida and Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong.
After the photo session, state leaders present at the AZEC Summit headed to the meeting room.
This is the first time that the AZEC Summit has been held since its launch at the G20 Summit in Bali in 2022.
At the summit attended by countries, such as Japan, Australia, and ASEAN countries, Indonesia emphasized the spirit of inclusive collaboration to realize an emission-free zone.
At the summit, President Widodo was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartanto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Heri Akhmadi.
Minister Marsudi stated that the president will conduct a luncheon with Japanese businessmen. President Widodo and the other ASEAN state leaders are thereafter scheduled to conduct a courtesy visit to Emperor of Japan, Naruhito.
