Prabowo

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Prabowo Subianto and Vladimir Putin held a high-level meeting at the Kremlin on Monday, marked by a warm and cordial atmosphere, as both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

In his opening remarks, President Putin welcomed Prabowo’s visit and expressed appreciation for his presence in Moscow. President Prabowo, in turn, thanked Putin for the warm reception despite his demanding schedule, describing the gesture as deeply appreciated.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed a wide range of strategic issues and explored avenues to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors. According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, both sides agreed to deepen long-term collaboration in the energy and mineral resources sector, including oil and gas security and downstream development.

The leaders also committed to expanding cooperation in education, research and technology, agriculture, and investment, with a particular focus on supporting Indonesia’s industrial development.

Following the formal talks, the discussions continued in a limited tête-à-tête session over a luncheon at the Kremlin’s Blue Hall, further reflecting the close rapport between the two leaders.

Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Russia span more than seven decades, having been formally established in 1950. Over the years, the two countries have maintained strong ties grounded in mutual respect and shared strategic interests.

Wijaya noted that Russia continues to hold a significant global position as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a founding member of BRICS, as well as a major global power with vast natural resources.

The meeting also highlighted the growing engagement between the two leaders, who last met in Moscow in December and have held five meetings over the past year, underscoring the momentum in bilateral relations.
