President Pezeshkian Praises Strategic Iran-Russia Ties

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed his appreciation to Russia for its unwavering support, affirming Iran’s determination to counter US totalitarianism with Russia’s assistance. The remarks were made during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, on Wednesday.

In the meeting, President Pezeshkian described the relationship between Iran and Russia as strategic and indispensable, highlighting the mutual benefits of their strengthened ties. He emphasized that the partnership between the two countries holds significant geopolitical value and serves the interests of both nations.

The Iranian president stressed the importance of constructive cooperation within the BRICS framework, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to advancing joint initiatives with Russia. He characterized the ongoing discussions at the BRICS summit as fruitful and underscored the necessity of implementing agreed-upon policies aimed at mitigating the impact of sanctions imposed by the United States on both Iran and Russia. Pezeshkian also condemned the US’s efforts to enforce a global totalitarian order, calling for concerted resistance.

Moreover, Pezeshkian advocated for enhanced bilateral relations between Iran and Russia in various sectors, including politics, economics, culture, science, and technical cooperation. The expansion of these areas would serve to deepen the strategic alliance between the two countries.

President Putin, in response, noted the close alignment of Iran and Russia on key international and regional issues. He reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to collaborating with Iran in establishing a fair and multipolar world order, while also recognizing the vital role of the United Nations in this endeavor.

Putin conveyed his warm regards to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, praising his constructive leadership and the valuable positions he has taken on global issues. Both leaders reiterated their dedication to further strengthening the bonds between their nations, particularly in countering Western pressure and fostering global stability.
