President Pezeshkian Reaffirms Iran’s Commitment to Implement Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Russia
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Iran’s firm commitment to fully implement the comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with Russia, calling for accelerated and finalised action from both sides to translate the accord into tangible outcomes.
Speaking during a meeting with his Russian counterpart on the sidelines of the International Conference on Peace and Trust held in Turkmenistan on Friday, President Pezeshkian said Tehran is determined to operationalise the agreement already signed between the two countries. He expressed hope that the Russian side would expedite the remaining procedures to ensure swift and effective implementation.
The Iranian president expressed satisfaction with the steady expansion of relations between Tehran and Moscow, and conveyed appreciation for Russia’s continued support for the Islamic Republic of Iran in international forums. He noted that bilateral cooperation has progressed in key areas, including power plant development, transportation infrastructure, and regional transit initiatives.
President Pezeshkian said Iran would provide all necessary conditions by the end of the year to facilitate the implementation of major corridor projects, stressing the strategic importance of developing both the North–South and East–West transit corridors to enhance regional connectivity and economic integration.
He further described cooperation in the agricultural sector as highly beneficial, proposing that this successful model be extended to other fields. In this context, he underlined the importance of joint efforts through international and regional organisations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS, to strengthen multilateral cooperation and counter unilateralism.
The meeting underscored the shared interest of Iran and Russia in deepening strategic ties and advancing practical cooperation across a broad range of sectors, in line with their long-term partnership.
