President Pezeshkian Urges Regional Unity Against Israeli Threats in Meeting with Iraqi Interior Minister

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a strong warning against the destructive role of the Israeli regime in the region and called on neighboring countries to foster greater unity and solidarity in the face of common threats.

Speaking during a meeting with Iraqi Minister of Interior Abdul Amir al-Shammari in Tehran on Monday, President Pezeshkian emphasized that regional security and peace are being deliberately undermined by the Israeli regime.

“The Zionist regime is a project of the global arrogant powers aimed at weakening, occupying, and plundering the resources of the region’s nations, and disintegrating the region,” the President stated.

He stressed that regional countries must unite to counter these destabilizing efforts, adding, “We must stand united in the face of such a common enemy, support each other, and vehemently avoid division and duality.”

President Pezeshkian further praised the fraternal ties between Iran and Iraq, describing the relationship as being rooted in deep religious and cultural bonds. He reaffirmed Iran’s full readiness to expand cooperation with Iraq in all sectors, particularly in enhancing security and promoting unity among Muslim nations.

The Iraqi interior minister, in turn, congratulated the Iranian people on their steadfast resistance and successful defense during the recent 12-day Israeli aggression. He reiterated Iraq’s firm support for Iran and highlighted Baghdad’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

Al-Shammari also briefed the Iranian side on Iraq’s preparations for hosting millions of pilgrims expected to participate in the Arba’een commemorations, which mark the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam and grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

He assured that the Iraqi government is mobilizing all its resources to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the pilgrimage, which represents one of the largest annual religious gatherings in the world.

The meeting reaffirmed the mutual commitment of both nations to defending regional stability and promoting Islamic unity in the face of external threats.
