Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto has expressed hope that Muslims across Indonesia will experience abundance, tranquility, and joy during the holy month of Ramadan as they observe the obligatory fast.

Delivering his message during the 100th-anniversary commemoration of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in Malang, East Java, on Sunday, President Prabowo said he prayed for a calm and blessed month for families nationwide. “God willing, we will have a calm, joyful, and abundant holy month with our families,” he stated.

The president emphasized that his administration places the welfare of the people above all else and urged Indonesians to help foster a peaceful and prosperous Ramadan by strengthening national unity and solidarity. He also called on the public to express gratitude and to pray for the country’s safety and cohesion, free from disasters and divisions.

“Let us unite in prayer and endeavor so that the Indonesian nation will always be under the protection of the Almighty God and be spared from division and disasters,” President Prabowo said.

Marking NU’s centenary, the president expressed appreciation for the organization’s longstanding contributions to Indonesia’s history and its role in safeguarding national unity. “Thank you, Nahdlatul Ulama, for your continued commitment to upholding the dignity of the Indonesian nation,” he added.

As Indonesian Muslims prepare to welcome Ramadan, expected to begin next week, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto on Tuesday announced an economic stimulus package valued at Rp12.83 trillion (approximately US$765.4 million). The package aims to boost consumption during Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday period from February to March.

The stimulus measures include discounts on transportation tickets and toll road tariffs, as well as social assistance in the form of 10 kilograms of rice and cooking oil for each beneficiary household over the two-month period.
