President Prabowo Thanks Pakistan for Support to Indonesia’s Health Sector

President Prabowo

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday expressed his gratitude to the Government of Pakistan for its support to Indonesia’s health sector, particularly through the deployment of doctors and medical experts, as he addressed a joint press conference with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.

Prabowo said Indonesia is currently facing a substantial need for health personnel, including doctors and dentists, and that Pakistan’s assistance would play a significant role in strengthening Indonesia’s healthcare services.

“We have a vast need for doctors and dentists, and I am starting a massive program of education in this field. So, your assistance will be very strategic and critical for us. We really appreciate that,” President Prabowo said, as quoted from a YouTube broadcast of the event.

He emphasised that Pakistan’s contribution—through the dispatch of doctors, professors, and medical experts—would provide meaningful support to Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to improve its health sector capacity.

The Indonesian President also stressed the importance of accelerating efforts to enhance trade between the two countries. He said he had directed his ministers to speed up concrete cooperation in a range of areas, including education, trade, agriculture, science and technology.

“Be assured that we want to move as fast as possible in all these fields — education, trade, agriculture cooperation, and science and technology,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Prabowo was received by Prime Minister Sharif at his official residence for a one-on-one meeting, where the two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations and expanding partnerships across multiple sectors.

Prabowo was accompanied by senior Indonesian officials, including Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

Following their talks, both leaders witnessed the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and cooperation agreements, including in health and higher education, marking a further step in advancing the Indonesia–Pakistan partnership.
