Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday called on regional parliament (DPRD) leaders across Indonesia to act as “patriots” and align closely with the government’s priority programs, during a closed-door briefing held in Magelang, Central Java.

Addressing around 503 provincial and municipal legislative chiefs at the “All-Indonesia Regional Parliament Speakers Consolidation Course,” the president emphasized unity and national commitment, stating his intention to speak candidly about the country’s direction.

“As a patriot, I come here to meet you with one core assumption: that we are all patriots,” President Prabowo said, according to a broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.

He expressed confidence that all participants shared a deep sense of dedication to the nation and its people, before the session proceeded into a private briefing.

President Prabowo arrived at the venue at 10 a.m. local time, accompanied by a high-level delegation of cabinet ministers responsible for outlining technical aspects of national policy implementation.

The delegation included State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Home Minister Tito Karnavian, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas), Ace Hasan Syadzily, said the gathering aimed to equip regional legislators with a deeper understanding of their role in overseeing the execution of government priority programs at the local level.

He noted that the president’s briefing would address key national consensus issues and examine the evolving impact of global geopolitical dynamics on Indonesia.

According to Syadzily, the session is designed to provide DPRD leaders with a comprehensive perspective, enabling them to perform their legislative duties in closer alignment with national objectives and development goals.
