President Tokayev Meets with Omani Foreign Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, who arrived in Kazakhstan for an official visit, the Akorda press service reported.

During the meeting, President Tokayev emphasized the significant untapped potential for enhancing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Oman on both bilateral and multilateral levels. He underscored the importance of further strengthening collaboration in regional and international affairs.

Taking the opportunity, President Tokayev conveyed his greetings to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman and extended an official invitation for the Omani leader to visit Kazakhstan.

“Oman is held in high regard in Kazakhstan. There is strong interest in your country among our citizens, including business representatives and cultural figures. It is imperative to provide a fresh impetus to our cooperation, making it more multifaceted and fruitful,” Tokayev stated.

In response, Foreign Minister Al Busaidi expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, emphasizing that it reflected the high level of mutual respect between the two nations.

“We follow Kazakhstan’s development with great interest. The large-scale reforms aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of the country and its people, as well as its economic growth and strategic role in fostering good neighborly relations, leave a deep impression on us,” Al Busaidi remarked.

The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in key sectors, including transport and logistics, agriculture, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and digitalization. The possibility of establishing direct flights between the two countries was also explored.

Additionally, both sides exchanged views on pressing regional security issues and reinforced their commitment to strengthening engagement within multilateral organizations.

The visit marks a significant step in enhancing Kazakhstan-Oman relations and fostering deeper collaboration across various sectors for mutual benefit.
