Presidents of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan Hold Talks on COP29 Success and CIS Cooperation
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, held a telephone conversation with Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to discuss issues of mutual interest and regional cooperation.
During the call, President Rahmon congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart on the successful organization of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29), highlighting its significance in advancing global efforts to address climate change, according to media reports. He commended Azerbaijan’s leadership in hosting the event and acknowledged its impact on the international climate agenda.
President Aliyev expressed appreciation for the congratulatory remarks and praised President Rahmon for his participation in the COP29 Leaders’ Summit. He also lauded the active contributions of Tajikistan’s delegation to the conference discussions, underscoring the importance of collective action in combating climate challenges.
The two leaders also exchanged views on bilateral relations and explored avenues for enhanced cooperation, particularly in light of Tajikistan’s upcoming chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Discussions focused on strengthening regional collaboration and addressing shared priorities.
