Prime Minister Chính Meets with Vietnamese Community in South Korea

Seoul, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính held a meeting with representatives from Việt Nam’s embassy and other representative agencies, as well as the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea (RoK), on Sunday. The meeting took place within the framework of his official visit to the country.

During the meeting, PM Chính emphasized that the relationship between Việt Nam and the RoK is at its strongest today, with both nations becoming each other’s leading partners in numerous fields. This comprehensive relationship creates favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, work, study, and conduct research in the East Asian country.

Currently, the RoK holds the top position in direct investment, second in development cooperation and tourism, and third in labor and trade cooperation with Việt Nam.

Affirming the Party and State’s view that Vietnamese people abroad are an integral part and a valuable resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community, PM Chính acknowledged the significant and high-quality contributions of the Vietnamese community in the RoK to both the homeland and bilateral relations.

He urged the embassy to consistently prioritize the care of the Vietnamese community, establish appropriate communication channels to connect with the community, and address issues related to them.

Ambassador Vũ Hồ reported that there are currently nearly 280,000 Vietnamese people living in the RoK.

At the meeting, representatives of the Vietnamese community proposed initiatives to develop science and technology, innovation, and startups, particularly in emerging industries such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence. They also suggested mechanisms to mobilize resources and the expertise of Vietnamese people abroad to address domestic challenges.
