Princess Lalla Meryem Opens Annual Diplomatic Solidarity Bazaar

Bazaar

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Princess Lalla Meryem on Saturday presided over the opening ceremony of the Diplomatic Club’s annual charity “Solidarity Bazaar,” held at the National Library in Rabat. The event, a longstanding tradition, brings together the diplomatic corps to promote cultural exchange and support humanitarian initiatives across Morocco.

Upon her arrival, Princess Lalla Meryem was welcomed by an honor guard from the Auxiliary Forces and several senior officials, including Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid and Minister of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and Family Naima Ben Yahia.

Following the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, the Princess visited the numerous stands participating in this year’s edition. More than 40 countries and international organizations are represented, offering a diverse selection of traditional and locally crafted products such as textiles, handicrafts, artworks, and cultural items from around the world.

The Solidarity Bazaar is the Diplomatic Club’s most important annual event, embodying values of friendship, cooperation, and cultural harmony. Proceeds from the charity initiative will be directed to Moroccan NGOs working to support vulnerable populations. Beneficiary organizations focus on education, healthcare, and empowering women—especially those living in rural areas.

The ceremony concluded with an official group photo featuring Princess Lalla Meryem and members of the Diplomatic Club.

Several high-ranking officials attended the event, including Mohamed El Yaakoubi, Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region; Rachid El Abdi, President of the Regional Council; Fatiha El Moudni, President of the Rabat City Council; Abdelaziz Derrouich, President of the Prefectural Council; and Samira El Melizi, Director of the National Library.

A number of ambassadors and spouses of diplomatic representatives also greeted the Princess. Among them were the ambassadors of Romania, Kazakhstan, Sudan, Canada, and Vietnam, as well as diplomatic representatives from Tunisia and Gabon.

O’Neil Obolo, spouse of the Gabonese ambassador and President of the Diplomatic Club, along with Secretary-General Yolanda Jah, were also present.

Through the Solidarity Bazaar, the Diplomatic Club reaffirms its commitment to strengthening ties between Morocco and the international diplomatic community while promoting generosity, cooperation, and mutual respect.
