Qatar Reaffirms Commitment to UN Charter on 80th Anniversary of Its Signing

Doha, The Gulf Observer: The State of Qatar has reiterated its steadfast commitment to the principles and spirit of the United Nations Charter, emphasizing the UN’s enduring role as a vital platform for dialogue, cooperation, and unity in an increasingly complex world.

This affirmation was delivered by the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations, Her Excellency Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, during a high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York, held to mark the 80th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter.

In her remarks, Sheikha Alya highlighted that the anniversary presents a critical opportunity to renew collective efforts toward preserving international peace and security and advancing global economic and social progress. She underscored that the UN’s mission has become even more essential and urgent in the face of escalating global crises.

Her Excellency further emphasized that since the UN’s founding in 1945, the world has witnessed numerous conflicts, making the principles enshrined in the Charter more relevant than ever. She affirmed Qatar’s unwavering support for international law, the peaceful resolution of disputes, and the respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Qatar’s consistent advocacy for dialogue, diplomacy, and multilateralism reflects its belief in the UN’s indispensable role in fostering a more just, stable, and inclusive international order.
