Qatar's Delegation Engages in Bilateral Talks at Russia-Islamic World Economic Forum in Kazan

Kazan, The Gulf Observer: The State of Qatar’s official delegation actively participated in the 15th International Economic Forum “Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Forum 2024,” held in Kazan city, Tatarstan Republic, from May 14th to May 19th, 2024. The delegation also witnessed the official inauguration of the “Russia Halal Expo” international exhibition.

Led by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, H E Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanim, Qatar’s delegation engaged in a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the forum. Among these meetings, Minister Al Ghanim met with H E Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan. Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al Thani, Qatar’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, along with the accompanying delegation, were also present during these discussions. Additionally, the delegation met with H E Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and H E Oleg Korobchenko, Tatarstan’s Minister of Industry and Trade.

The discussions during these meetings focused on topics of mutual interest aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two countries in commerce, investment, and industry. The delegation exchanged views on the agenda topics of the forum, highlighting Qatar’s successful economic policies in supporting the private sector and reviewing incentives, legislations, and opportunities available in the country to encourage investors and businessmen to invest in Qatar.

Furthermore, Qatar’s delegation toured the “Russia Halal Expo” within the framework of the forum, acquainting themselves with various pavilions, services, and products offered by participating companies.

The Kazan Forum 2024 aims to strengthen commercial, economic, academic, technical, social, and cultural ties between the Russian Federation and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries. Throughout the event, various sessions and dialogues were organized, covering topics such as Islamic financing, Halal manufacturing, investment, industry, logistics, tourism, technology, international cooperation, diplomacy, environmental practices, social governance, SMEs, medicine, and sports.

Additionally, the forum featured two media-related sessions commemorating the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). These sessions, titled “Main Directions in Transformation of the Information Field in the Modern World and IOC Countries” and “Information Space Between Unification and Fragmentation,” addressed modern media issues and highlighted the impact of technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and Cloud Computing on contemporary information reform.
