Saudi Arabia Condemns Israeli Seizure of UNRWA Land in East Jerusalem
Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia has condemned the recent decision by Israeli authorities to seize the land that houses the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in East Jerusalem, transforming it into a colonial outpost. In a statement issued on Sunday, the Saudi foreign ministry denounced the move as illegal and reiterated the Kingdom’s strong rejection of “blatant Israeli violations of international laws and resolutions without deterrence,” as well as the systematic political and military targeting of UN agencies, aid organizations, and their workers.
The ministry emphasized Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for UNRWA’s humanitarian mission, which aims to provide relief to Palestinian refugees. Reports indicate that Israel’s Land Authority is in the preparatory stages of a plan to confiscate the UNRWA site and construct 1,440 settlement units, a development that further escalates tensions in the region.
Saudi Arabia’s statement reflects its commitment to advocating for the rights of Palestinians and upholding international law in the face of ongoing challenges. The Kingdom continues to call for a resolution to the Palestinian issue based on fairness and justice, urging the international community to take decisive action against violations in occupied territories.
