SAV Delegation Engages in Dialogue on State Audit in St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg, The Gulf Observer: A delegation from the State Audit of Vietnam (SAV), led by Deputy Auditor General Đoàn Anh Thọ, participated in a special dialogue on the use of audit as a tool to enhance state management. This event took place within the framework of the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2024), which is being held from June 5-8, attracting representatives from 138 countries and territories.
The dialogue, hosted by Margarita Simonyan, Editor-in-Chief of the Russian broadcaster RT and the media group Rossiya Segodnya, focused on the role of state audit in the effective use of budget capital. Delegates discussed recommendations to improve public administration, a necessary condition for sustainable development and improving quality of life.
In his remarks, Thọ highlighted SAV’s development strategy until 2030, emphasizing three main pillars: improving audit quality, developing human resources, and applying information technology in auditing. He noted that state audit activities will align with the government’s national sustainable development programmes, with a vision extending to 2050.
To achieve these goals, SAV has been innovative in developing audit plans, enhancing training for accountants, and learning from international experiences.
On June 6, the SAV delegation held a working session with the Russian Accounts Chamber’s delegation, led by Deputy Head Galina Izotova. Both sides affirmed their close and cooperative relationship. The Vietnamese delegation proposed increased cooperation in personnel training, support for Vietnam’s candidacy as a member of the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) for the 2024-27 term, conducting joint audits on topics of mutual interest, and signing a new cooperation agreement between the two agencies.
Izotova expressed agreement with Thọ on these issues, reinforcing the commitment to collaborative efforts between the audit institutions of Vietnam and Russia.
