Shavkat Mirziyoyev Addresses Newly Formed Senate of the Oliy Majlis
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the inaugural session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the new convocation, delivering a congratulatory address to the newly elected senators.
In his remarks, President Mirziyoyev commended the senators for earning the high trust of the people and expressed confidence in their commitment to contributing their knowledge, experience, and potential toward building a “New Uzbekistan.” He highlighted the importance of their efforts in ensuring a peaceful, free, and prosperous life for the nation.
The president praised the qualitative composition of the fifth convocation of the Senate, which includes prominent figures from leading sectors such as politics, economics, science, and culture. He noted the significance of the Senate’s diversity, with one-third of the members holding academic degrees and 27 percent of the body, or 16 senators, being women.
“This marks a significant step in strengthening parliamentary efforts to protect the rights of families, motherhood, and children, addressing social issues, and enhancing legislative activity,” the president stated.
The session underscored the pivotal role of the Senate in shaping Uzbekistan’s legislative framework and advancing reforms aligned with the vision of a modern and progressive nation.
