Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Emir of Qatar discuss bilateral relations, strategic partnership
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The head of Uzbekistan congratulated the Emir and the people of Qatar on Independence Day, and the Emir expressed gratitude for organizing the ceremony for presenting the International Award in the Fight against Corruption in Tashkent.
The parties discussed issues of strengthening political dialogue and expanding cooperation in various fields, including green energy and transport.
Ways to further expand cooperation in the field of transport and logistics were considered. The Qatari side expressed full support for the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Qatar emphasized the importance of organizing the first meetings of the joint Intergovernmental Commission, Business Council and Business Forum in February 2024 in Doha.
The parties discussed the implementation of new joint investment projects, in particular in the fields of green energy, industry, agriculture, infrastructure development, the banking and financial sector, education, healthcare, and tourism.
The leaders of the two countries supported the initiatives to create a Coordination Council at the level of the heads of the foreign ministries of the two countries and a Regional Anti-Corruption Center under the auspices of the UN.
The heads of Uzbekistan and Qatar also exchanged views on current issues on the international and regional agenda.
