Sheikh Jassim Quran contest: Tests for males today and tomorrow

Doha, The Gulf Observer: The qualifying tests phase of the 28th Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Holy Quran Contest (male Qatari nationals) will be held today and tomorrow, the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs said.

Eighteen referee panels will supervise the tests in Imam Muhammad bin Abd Al Wahhab Mosque as of 3.30pm.

Meanwhile, 14 panels are supervising tests of female contesters which kicked off on Wednesday and run through Sunday in Al Waab district.

The categories of the contest brings together 610 Qatari nationals including 193 males and 417 females.

The organising committee of the contest said that the evaluation process would utilise an electronic system initiated by the Ministry’s Information Systems Department several years ago.

Valuable financial prizes will be awarded to all winners of the competition, the committee said.

Tests of early childhood branch of the contest concluded on Thursday amid participation of 1,681 male and female contesters (nationals and residents).
