Sheikh Saleh bin Humaid to Deliver Arafat Sermon and Lead Prayers at Namirah Mosque

Jeddah, The Gulf Observer: Eminent Saudi scholar and prominent imam and khateeb of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid, will deliver the sermon and lead the congregational prayer at the Namirah Mosque on the Day of Arafat, corresponding to Dhul Hijjah 9, 1446, as part of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

The announcement was made by the Presidency of the Religious Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, following a royal directive issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The Day of Arafat marks the spiritual pinnacle of the Hajj pilgrimage. Pilgrims gather at the plains of Arafat to observe the most important ritual of Hajj—standing at Arafat (wuqoof)—which begins following the Arafat sermon and the combined and shortened Dhuhr and Asr prayers led by the khateeb at Namirah Mosque.

Sheikh Bin Humaid is widely respected in the Islamic world for his scholarly contributions and distinguished public service. In addition to his role as imam of the Grand Mosque, he has served the Kingdom in various senior capacities, including as Speaker of the Shoura Council, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, President of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, Head of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, and as Advisor to the Royal Court.

His selection to deliver the Arafat sermon underscores the significance of the occasion and the importance of his voice in conveying key messages to millions of pilgrims gathered from around the world.
