Sri Lanka, Bhutan Agree to Elevate Bilateral Cooperation as Premiers Hold Talks in Thimphu

Thimphu, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Dr. Harini Amarasuriya held a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Dasho Tshering Tobgay, in Thimphu, during her official visit to the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Dr. Amarasuriya is in Bhutan to participate as the Keynote Speaker at the inaugural Global Conscious Food Systems Summit 2026.

The meeting focused on further strengthening the longstanding, close and friendly bilateral partnership between Sri Lanka and Bhutan, and on elevating cooperation between the two countries across priority sectors.

The two leaders exchanged views on a wide range of areas of mutual interest, including education, health, trade, tourism, air connectivity and people-to-people contacts.

The discussions reflected the shared commitment of both sides to deepen an enduring relationship rooted in common cultural and civilizational bonds, and to translate goodwill between the two nations into expanded practical cooperation.
