Sri Lankan Government to Issue Condolence Message Over Deaths of Iranian Leaders

Colombo, The Gulf Observer: The Sri Lankan government will soon issue an official message of condolence regarding the deaths of Iranian state leaders and officials killed in the ongoing conflict, Cabinet Spokesman Nalinda Jayatissa said today.
Addressing a news conference, Jayatissa stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would formally release the condolence message in due course.
He made the remarks in response to a question about why the government had not yet expressed condolences over the killing of Iranian state leaders, particularly given Sri Lanka’s historically close ties with Iranian leadership.
The Cabinet Spokesman clarified that the government intends to convey its sympathies over all deaths resulting from the ongoing war, including those of Iranian officials, and emphasized that the matter is being handled through official diplomatic channels.
Sri Lanka and Iran have maintained longstanding bilateral relations, with cooperation in areas such as energy, trade, and development projects over the years.
