Tô Lâm Inspects Hanoi Ring Road Project, New High School Ahead of 2026–2027 Academic Year
Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) Central Committee and President Tô Lâm on Saturday inspected the Hoàng Cầu–Voi Phục section of Ring Road No. 1 and the Hoàng Quán Chi High School project in Hànội, urging authorities to accelerate infrastructure development and ensure quality educational conditions for students in the new academic year.
The Hoàng Cầu–Voi Phục section of Ring Road No. 1 is more than 2.2 kilometres long and 50 metres wide, running through Ô Chợ Dừa, Giảng Võ and Láng wards. The project is regarded as crucial to completing the ring road and strengthening Hà Nội’s transport infrastructure, while helping ease congestion in the inner city once operational.
At the project site, Tô Lâm commended Hànội authorities for their efforts in site clearance and for ensuring stable living conditions for residents affected by relocation.
He asked relevant agencies to maintain construction progress and make every effort to put the entire route into operation as soon as possible.
Highlighting the importance of Ring Road No. 1 as a continuous transport route for reducing congestion in the city centre, he called on Party committees and authorities at all levels to intensify efforts to persuade residents to hand over land needed for the project.
He also urged authorities to clearly explain the project’s broader benefits to the capital and the advantages provided under resettlement policies, while continuing to develop appropriate urban landscaping and architectural planning along both sides of the road.
Tô Lâm Calls for Comprehensive Education at New Hanoi High School
At the Hoàng Quán Chi High School project in Yên Hoà Ward, Tô Lâm praised the school’s well-planned investment in modern facilities.
Covering nearly 13,000 square metres, the school consists of four above-ground floors and one basement. It is one of four new public high schools in Hà Nội scheduled to begin operations in time for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Tô Lâm expressed confidence that the school’s opening, together with other newly developed educational facilities across the capital, would help address the growing learning needs of students.
He stressed that education should focus on students’ comprehensive development, with schools meeting required standards while maintaining a balance between academic learning, arts, sports and foreign-language education. Such an approach, he said, would contribute to creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment.
The General Secretary and President also called for regular health check-ups for students to monitor their physical development and ensure that appropriate healthcare plans are put in place.
He underscored the importance of identifying and nurturing talented students at an early stage across a wide range of fields, including the arts, sports and STEM disciplines.
He further encouraged universities to consider direct admission for students demonstrating outstanding academic performance throughout their 12 years of schooling, while calling for greater emphasis on career guidance.
Such guidance, he said, should enable students to make educational and career choices that match their qualifications and abilities while responding to the practical needs of society.
The inspection highlighted the government’s focus on accelerating key urban infrastructure projects alongside investment in modern education facilities and a comprehensive approach to developing the next generation.
