Trump’s Personal Engagement Could Help End Gaza Crisis, Advance Two-State Solution: Saudi FM

New York, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated on Monday that former U.S. President Donald Trump’s direct involvement could prove pivotal in ending the ongoing crisis in Gaza and in advancing a lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Speaking at a joint press conference alongside French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, held on the sidelines of a high-level conference on the two-state solution co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and France in New York, Prince Faisal underscored the United States’ indispensable role in Middle East peace efforts.

“The United States is a key player when it comes to peace in the Middle East,” he remarked. “President Trump had success in this area, and his personal involvement is of critical importance.”

Prince Faisal described Trump as “a man of peace who opposes war,” adding that his engagement, especially at a personal level, could help bring an end to the Gaza conflict and lay the foundation for resolving the broader Israeli-Palestinian dispute.

“We hold great respect for President Trump and trust not only his commitment to peace but also his ability to achieve it,” he said.

The Saudi foreign minister also disclosed ongoing discussions with European and Asian countries to push for formal recognition of Palestinian statehood, affirming that “the majority of countries are willing to recognize the State of Palestine.”

Reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s principled stance, Prince Faisal stressed that the creation of an independent Palestinian state is a legitimate right, not a political concession. He said the Riyadh-Paris-led conference reflects a growing international consensus that the only viable resolution lies in implementing the two-state solution — grounded in relevant United Nations resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the land-for-peace formula.

“Achieving a just and comprehensive peace that ensures the sovereignty and security of all peoples in the region begins with ending the conflict and establishing the Palestinian state,” Prince Faisal stated.

He also reiterated the Kingdom’s full support for ongoing ceasefire mediation efforts in Gaza led by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, and firmly rejected any attempts to isolate, besiege, or reoccupy the enclave.

The high-level conference in New York marks a renewed push by Saudi Arabia and France to mobilize international momentum in favor of a durable peace settlement based on justice, statehood, and mutual security in the region.
