Türkiye Calls Airspace Violation ‘Unacceptable’ in Phone Call with Iranian Foreign Minister

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Tuesday said the violation of Turkish airspace was “unacceptable” during a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, according to diplomatic sources.
During the call, Fidan stressed that any breach of Türkiye’s airspace is unacceptable and underlined that Ankara would continue taking all necessary measures to prevent such incidents.
The Turkish foreign minister also emphasized that all parties should avoid actions that could undermine regional security or pose risks to civilians, urging restraint amid escalating tensions in the region.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi stated that the missiles directed toward Turkish airspace did not originate from Iran, adding that a thorough investigation into the incident would be conducted.
Earlier, the Turkish National Defense Ministry said a ballistic missile fired from Iran into Turkish airspace had been neutralized by NATO air and missile defense assets deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean.
According to the ministry, debris from the intercepted missile fell onto vacant land in Gaziantep province in southeastern Türkiye, noting that no casualties or injuries were reported.
The incident comes amid ongoing US-Israeli attacks on Iran, launched on February 28, which have reportedly killed around 1,300 people, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has since retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
