Türkiye Calls for Restraint Amid Venezuela Crisis, Emphasizes Stability and Peace

Türkiye

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye on Saturday emphasized the importance of stability in Venezuela and the peace and well-being of the Venezuelan people, following reported U.S. military strikes and the alleged capture of President Nicolas Maduro.

In a statement from the Foreign Ministry, Ankara called on all parties to act with restraint to prevent the situation from causing adverse consequences for regional and international security.

Türkiye affirmed that it is “closely” monitoring developments in Venezuela and expressed readiness to assist in resolving the crisis within the framework of international law. The statement also confirmed that the Turkish Embassy in Caracas continues uninterrupted communication and coordination with Turkish citizens in the country.

Earlier, the Venezuelan government accused the United States of attacking civilian and military installations across several states and declared a national emergency.

US President Donald Trump, posting on his social media platform Truth Social, confirmed that Washington had carried out a “large scale” strike and claimed that President Maduro and his wife had been captured and removed from Venezuela.

The attacks follow months of tension between the United States and Venezuela, with the U.S. accusing Maduro of involvement in drug trafficking—a charge the Venezuelan leader has denied while expressing willingness to engage in talks.
