Turkmen Mejlis Speaker welcomes US congress delegation
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The Mejlis, Parliament of Turkmenistan, on Monday hosted a meeting with the visiting delegation of the United States House of Representatives discussing the priority matters of Turkmen-American cooperation, particularly the prospects of further development of inter-parliamentary ties, the official Turkmen media reports.
Mejlis Speaker Dunyagozel Gulmanova warmly welcomed the delegation from the US and emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening parliamentary ties that contribute to the development of effective interstate dialog in all areas.
During the meeting, the sides stressed the high level of Turkmen-American relations achieved both in bilateral and multilateral formats within the framework of major international and regional organizations. The sides also reaffirmed the desire to give a new impetus to the traditional multifaceted partnership, built on the principles of equality and mutual respect.
Besides, taking into account the significant potential of mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, the sides considered the opportunities for strengthening ties between the parliamentarians of the two countries and exchange of experience in the field of legislation.
At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed confidence that the intensification of the inter-parliamentary dialogue will directly serve to steadily build up political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and the US, strengthening the bonds of friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
