Turkmen President Congratulates Norway’s King Haakon VIII on Accession

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to King Haakon VIII of Norway on his accession to the Norwegian throne, Turkmen state media reported Wednesday.
On behalf of the people and government of Turkmenistan, as well as in his own name, President Berdimuhamedov conveyed his sincere congratulations to the new Norwegian monarch.
The Turkmen president wished King Haakon VIII good health, happiness and prosperity, while expressing hopes for continued peace, development and prosperity for the people of Norway.
King Haakon VIII ascended the Norwegian throne on Aug. 28, 2026, following the death of his father, King Harald V. On the same day, the new monarch addressed an extraordinary meeting of the Council of State, announcing that he had assumed the powers of the king in accordance with the Norwegian Constitution and would reign under the name Haakon VIII.
According to the official press service of the Norwegian Parliament, King Haakon VIII took the constitutional oath before the Storting, Norway’s parliament, on Sept. 1, 2026.
