Turkmenistan Advances Digital Economy with New IT Equipment Production Initiatives

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications, Mammetkhan Chakiyev, presented a comprehensive report on the implementation of the State Program for the Development of the Digital Economy to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during a government meeting on Friday. The report, highlighted by the TDH news agency, focused on the strides being made in domestic IT equipment production.

Techno Merkez CJSC, a key player in Turkmenistan’s tech sector, is exploring the establishment of production facilities for servers and data storage systems, alongside equipment designed to ensure cybersecurity. The report also outlined plans for the future provision of maintenance and technical support for server devices. Additionally, the company aims to produce equipment essential for smart city and smart home systems that adhere to international standards.

This initiative is poised to reduce Turkmenistan’s dependence on imports, generate new employment opportunities, and enhance the expertise of local specialists.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his support for the initiative and instructed that efforts in this direction continue. He underscored the significance of developing the digital economy for the nation’s progress and modernization.

The move to bolster the domestic production of IT equipment aligns with Turkmenistan’s broader goals of fostering technological innovation and economic diversification, positioning the country as a competitive player in the global digital economy.
