Turkmenistan, Afghanistan Forge Partnership for Hangar Development, Railway Expansion
Kabul, The Gulf Observer: Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Afghanistan Hoja Ovezov met with Afghanistan Railway Authority’s Head Mullah Bakht Rahman Sharafat in Kabul to discuss the construction of new hangars and additional railway lines by the Joint Technical Group of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
According to the press service of the Railway Administration of Afghanistan, the meeting emphasized strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in railway communication and transit, particularly focusing on increasing the capacity of the Herat-Turgundi port between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
The discussion also involved Turkmenistan’s interest in identifying a land plot in Afghanistan for practical work, with the Afghanistan Railway Authority coordinating matters in Herat province.
The 173-kilometer-long Turgundi-Herat railroad and Turgundi dry port are integral parts of the international Lapis Lazuli Corridor, facilitating Afghanistan’s access to Türkiye and the western direction.
