Turkmenistan Explores Railway Investments with China
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan has expressed its readiness to engage in negotiations with Chinese companies regarding potential railway investment projects. This announcement came during an online meeting on Wednesday between the heads of the Türkmendemirýollary State Agency and China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., according to a statement from the Türkmendemirýollary State Agency.
During the meeting, Turkmenistan highlighted its willingness to discuss several key areas of cooperation with China. These include the purchase of rolling stock units, increasing freight container transportation, and enhancing coordination between the national logistics operators of both countries.
The discussion between the railway administrations also covered the modernization of Turkmenistan’s transportation infrastructure, the establishment of service centers, the training of specialists, and the preparation of a regulatory framework for implementing future projects in the railway sector.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding, cementing the commitment to explore these collaborative opportunities. The document was signed by Azat Atamyradov, Chairman of the Türkmendemirýollary Agency, and Liu Zhenfang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.
This memorandum represents a significant step towards enhancing the transportation and logistics cooperation between Turkmenistan and China, reflecting both countries’ commitment to strengthening their economic and infrastructural ties.
