Turkmenistan Strengthens Tourism Cooperation Through International Forums and Heritage Preservation
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan is placing a strong emphasis on enhancing cooperation in the tourism sector, as evidenced by its active participation in international forums and events aimed at showcasing the country’s vast potential.
The International Conference “Main Directions and Potential for Tourism Development in Turkmenistan,” held on March 27, highlighted the nation’s efforts to strengthen its position in the global tourism market. Turkmenistan’s rich national heritage, including numerous archaeological sites and masterpieces of ancient, antique, and medieval architecture, has allowed it to improve its standing in the global tourism sector.
A significant milestone was achieved during the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Ancient Fortress of Amul: Keeper of the Secrets of the Past,” held on April 26. This event celebrated the inclusion of the Amul Fortress in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site “The Great Silk Road: Zarafshan-Karakum Corridor.” The conference aimed to draw global scientific attention to the ancient fortress, a critical point on the historic Great Silk Road, and to develop cultural diplomacy by disseminating the findings from excavations and research.
These initiatives underscore Turkmenistan’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage and leveraging it to enhance tourism cooperation, boosting its profile in the global tourism industry.
