UAE Air Defences Intercept Missiles and Drones from Iran, Ministry Confirms

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates’ air defence systems successfully intercepted four ballistic missiles and six drones launched from Iran on March 15, 2026, the UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry said the interceptions were carried out as part of the country’s ongoing defensive operations against attacks originating from Iran.
According to official figures, since the beginning of the Iranian attacks, UAE air defence systems have intercepted 298 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,606 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The attacks have resulted in the death of six people, including nationals from the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. In addition, 142 individuals sustained minor to moderate injuries, representing a wide range of nationalities including Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian, Turkish, Iraqi, Nepali, Nigerian, Omani, Jordanian, Palestinian, Ghanaian, Indonesian, and Swedish citizens.
The UAE Ministry of Defence emphasized that the armed forces remain fully prepared to respond to any threats targeting the country.
“The Ministry of Defence affirms that it remains fully prepared and ready to deal with any threats and will firmly confront anything that aims to undermine the security of the country,” the statement said.
The ministry reiterated that the UAE will continue taking all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability, while safeguarding national interests and strategic capabilities.
