UAE Commemorates International Workers’ Day with #HonouringOurWorkers Initiative

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), in conjunction with federal and local government bodies and private sector stakeholders, is spearheading a series of nationwide events to mark International Workers’ Day, observed annually on May 1st. This year’s celebration, themed #HonouringOurWorkers, aims to recognize the invaluable contributions of workers to the nation’s development and global prominence.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all workers in the UAE, underscoring their indispensable role as vital collaborators in realizing sustainable development objectives, actualizing the nation’s ambitious visions, and bolstering its international leadership across diverse sectors.

“Marking the international day of workers epitomizes our enduring commitment to humanitarian principles and aligns seamlessly with our overarching strategy at MoHRE, characterized by robust partnerships within the labor market ecosystem,” stated Dr. Al Awar. “By honoring and acknowledging the endeavors of workers, we furnish them with a potent incentive to excel and innovate, thereby fostering a conducive environment within the labor market, enhancing worker satisfaction, and fostering a sense of recognition for their pivotal contributions.”

Dr. Al Awar reiterated the government’s pledge to provide unwavering support to Emirati workers, facilitating their integration into private sector enterprises and forging strategic alliances with a dynamic and diverse private sector, renowned for its capacity to continually generate employment opportunities. He expressed gratitude to all workers for their tireless endeavors in augmenting the efficiency, productivity, and global competitiveness of the UAE labor market.

As part of the week-long festivities dedicated to International Workers’ Day, MoHRE has curated an array of activities, including a cricket tournament exclusively for private sector employees, graced by eminent dignitaries from governmental and corporate spheres, alongside strategic partners. Complementing the tournament are various contests, artistic exhibitions featuring celebrities and athletes, and a worker’s marathon, held in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council.

In a bid to spotlight exemplary achievements in Emiratisation, ministry officials will visit companies distinguished for their strides in Emirati employment, gaining insights into their training and recruitment initiatives while engaging with Emirati workers in the private sector to glean their feedback. Concurrently, visits to labor accommodations nationwide will afford officials an opportunity to interact with workers and extend tokens of appreciation.

Moreover, the program encompasses diverse community-centric events, including the launch of the hashtag #HonouringOurWorkers, alongside initiatives to galvanize community and corporate participation in International Workers’ Day festivities. In collaboration with the ‘Giving Family’ initiative, MoHRE is orchestrating recreational activities tailored for workers, fostering camaraderie and solidarity.

Embracing the spirit of tolerance and inclusivity, MoHRE, in collaboration with governmental, local, and private entities, is orchestrating a comprehensive itinerary of events catering to workers of all nationalities across the UAE. This endeavor underscores the nation’s competitiveness and stature as a preeminent destination for living and working, embodying the ethos of diversity and harmony.
