UAE Participates in BRICS Health Ministers Meeting

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates (UAE), represented by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), participated in the recent BRICS Health Ministers Meeting in Moscow, where officials discussed strategies to accelerate sustainable development and ensure global health and well-being by 2030. The UAE delegation, led by Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, included several high-ranking officials, such as Dr. Yousef Mohammed Al Serkal, Director-General of Emirates Health Services, and Nasser Al Badour, Assistant Under-Secretary at MoHAP.

During the high-level discussions, the UAE delegation joined other BRICS health ministers to address pressing global health challenges and explore opportunities for deeper international cooperation in healthcare. The meeting focused on promoting universal health coverage, strengthening global health infrastructure, and fostering multilateral partnerships to meet the shared goal of a healthier future for all.

Commenting on the occasion, Minister Al Owais stated, “The BRICS meetings provide an ideal platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise, strengthening development efforts, and building resilient health systems capable of addressing emerging threats and managing future crises.” He emphasized the UAE’s commitment to global solidarity in overcoming shared challenges and its role as a strategic partner in international health efforts.

Al Owais further noted, “We look forward to strengthening our collaboration with BRICS partners to achieve unified health standards and enhance organizational capabilities. Our focus remains on upgrading healthcare quality and innovation, aligning with the aspirations of the communities we serve.”

The meeting also addressed key global health concerns, including antimicrobial resistance, nuclear medicine development, infectious disease prevention, and medical product regulation. Additionally, participants discussed launching the BRICS Health Journal and advancing research in tuberculosis and vaccines to ensure equitable access.

The UAE delegation reaffirmed its commitment to expanding collaboration within the BRICS framework, contributing to global health objectives, and supporting Sustainable Development Goals through innovative approaches.
