UAE Praised as Global Model of Islamic Tolerance and Coexistence

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: Syrian Minister of Endowments (Awqaf), Mohammad Abu al-Khair Shukri, has lauded the United Arab Emirates for promoting the humanitarian values of Islam and advancing a model rooted in tolerance, coexistence, and respect for cultural diversity.
During his visit to the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat in Abu Dhabi, the Syrian minister highlighted that the UAE’s emphasis on the core principles of Islam—including mutual respect and openness toward other cultures—has positioned the country as a global example of peaceful coexistence among more than 200 nationalities.
He further noted that the UAE serves as a leading platform for initiatives aimed at fostering global peace and interfaith harmony.
Shukri was received by the Chairman of the Authority, Omar Habtoor Al Darei, along with senior officials. During the meeting, Al Darei briefed the visiting minister on the Authority’s key achievements and its comprehensive approach to managing religious affairs.
He outlined efforts to promote a balanced and moderate Islamic discourse aligned with the evolving needs of society, particularly in the areas of education, awareness, and guidance. Al Darei also underscored the UAE leadership’s continued commitment to advancing the values of tolerance, coexistence, and peace, alongside sustained support for institutional initiatives.
For his part, Shukri expressed appreciation for the Authority’s strategic vision and its adoption of advanced digital technologies in delivering religious services. He also conveyed interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation to support institutional development in the religious sector.
Both sides discussed avenues to enhance collaboration in religious affairs, including the exchange of expertise and the training of imams and religious leaders, with the shared objective of promoting the true values and message of Islam globally.
