Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Ambassador of Uzbekistan Abat Faizullaev held a meeting with the President of the National Consortium of Italian Planter Associations (CIVI Italia) Giandomignico Consalvo, Dunyo news agency reported.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on reforms related to the diversification of agriculture and the development of fruit and vegetable growing in Uzbekistan.
The initiative of the President of Uzbekistan to create an international nursery center, put forward during a visit to Surkhandarya region in November, was highly appreciated by the CIVI Italia association.
It was noted at the meeting that virus-free nurseries and the creation of a system for their certification, as well as obtaining a high-quality harvest in the future, are extremely important for the creation of intensive gardens and vineyards in the country.
The president of the association expressed his readiness to provide practical assistance in matters related to the exchange of advanced foreign experience in the field of horticulture and the creation of a horticulture center in Uzbekistan.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of attracting large Italian specialized companies and testing new promising varieties of fruits suitable for local conditions.
CIVI Italia, a national consortium of associations of Italian producers, was created in 1993 and is the only organization in the country responsible for implementing a quality certification program in the cultivation of fruits, olives, citrus fruits and berries.
