Vietnam Holds Preliminary Rehearsal for 50th Anniversary Parade of National Reunification

HCM City, The Gulf Observer: A preliminary state-level rehearsal for the grand parade commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975–2025) took place on Friday evening along Lê Duẩn Street in District 1, drawing key government and military leaders.

The rehearsal was attended and directed by senior officials, including Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa, Politburo member and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation; Nguyễn Văn Nên, Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee and head of the city’s anniversary celebration committee; and General Phan Văn Giang, Minister of National Defence.

The large-scale event featured 25 formations from the military and militia, 17 police formations, and 12 from various mass organisations. In a display of regional solidarity, military contingents from China, Laos, and Cambodia also participated in the march.

Earlier in the day, downtown Ho Chi Minh City witnessed helicopter and fighter jet training exercises as aerial units prepared for the upcoming parade.

The final state-level rehearsal is scheduled for Sunday morning, ahead of the official celebration on April 30 at 6:30am. The landmark event is expected to host approximately 13,000 participants, underscoring the national significance of the golden jubilee of Vietnam’s reunification.
