Việtnam, Jordan Poised to Deepen Cooperation for Regional and Global Stability

Việtnam

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Party General Secretary Tô Lâm on Wednesday highlighted the great potential for Việtnam and Jordan to deepen bilateral cooperation, not only for the benefit of their peoples but also to contribute to peace and prosperity in ASEAN and the Middle East.

The Party chief made the remarks while receiving King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the headquarters of the Party Central Committee in Hànoi. The visit marks the first-ever head-of-state-level exchange between Việtnam and Jordan and comes at a meaningful time as the two nations celebrate the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic relations (1980–2025).

General Secretary Lâm noted that 2026 will be a momentous year for both countries — Jordan will commemorate its 80th National Day, while the Communist Party of Việt Nam will convene its 14th National Congress to set strategic directions for the country’s next development phase.

He commended the substantive outcomes of the earlier talks between King Abdullah II and State President Lương Cường, affirming that Việtnam attaches great importance to enhancing ties with Middle Eastern nations, including Jordan, which holds a vital position in the region.

The Party leader expressed confidence that, based on their shared policies of peace, independence, self-reliance, and cooperation for development, Việtnam and Jordan will become trusted partners in their respective regions, working together to tap new growth opportunities.

Welcoming the presence of a large Jordanian business delegation accompanying the King, General Secretary Lâm said this reflects Jordan’s commitment to advancing practical and effective cooperation with Việtnam.

For his part, King Abdullah II expressed his deep appreciation for the warm welcome and reaffirmed that he places special significance on his visit to Việtnam. He agreed with the Party chief that this is a crucial period for both nations as they pursue their development goals.

The King conveyed his sympathies to the Vietnamese people over the losses caused by recent natural disasters and briefed his host on the positive outcomes of his talks with President Lương Cường. He reiterated Jordan’s desire to strengthen comprehensive cooperation with Việtnam, particularly through private-sector partnerships.

King Abdullah II also proposed expanding collaboration in defence and security, sharing scientific and technological expertise, and promoting people-to-people exchanges to foster mutual understanding. He invited Việt Nam to participate in an upcoming international conference on food security to be hosted by Jordan.

The two leaders agreed on the importance of strengthening coordination to address emerging global and regional challenges, while further promoting cooperation across various fields, including politics and diplomacy, defence and security, economy, trade, investment, agriculture, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, energy, and tourism.

They also pledged to continue supporting each other at multilateral forums, particularly within the framework of the United Nations, ASEAN, and regional organisations in the Middle East.
