Vietnam's Central Military Commission

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: The Central Military Commission convened its 12th conference for the 2020-2025 tenure in Hanoi on Monday to evaluate the execution of its 2024 military and defense agenda and outline a strategic roadmap for 2025.

The event was co-chaired by Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, Secretary of the Commission, and Minister of National Defence General Phan Văn Giang, who serves as Vice Secretary of the commission.

In his address, Tô Lâm lauded the commission, the Ministry of National Defence, officers, and soldiers across the country for successfully hosting events commemorating the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and the 35th anniversary of the All-People Defence Festival. These activities, he emphasized, have reinforced revolutionary heroism, the spirit of national unity, and the proud traditions of the heroic Vietnamese military.

Looking forward, Tô Lâm urged a comprehensive review of the objectives and directives established by the 13th National Party Congress and the 11th Congress of the VPA’s Party Organisation to ensure their timely and successful implementation.

The commission was tasked with bolstering combat readiness to secure triumph in all circumstances and advancing education and training quality to meet strategic goals. Lâm underscored the importance of learning from global conflicts to devise modern and effective military strategies.

He also called for strengthening the political foundations of the army, enhancing global defense diplomacy, and promoting strategic trust with key partners, including neighboring nations, major powers, and traditional allies. These efforts, he noted, would contribute to Vietnam’s international stature and prestige while fostering self-reliance and resilience.

Moreover, the leader highlighted the necessity of improving logistics, finance, planning, and defense-related economic activities. He urged the enhancement of technical capacities and military science, as well as the accelerated development of Vietnam’s defense industry.

Special attention was given to building a clean, strong, and exemplary VPA Party Organisation to support the ministry’s upcoming initiatives. These include celebrations of the VPA’s 80th anniversary, the All-People Defence Festival, the International Defence Expo, and the 2024 Military-Political Conference.

Tô Lâm concluded by stressing that the commission’s policies and resolutions must be swiftly communicated to all officers and soldiers, ensuring the successful fulfillment of 2025 objectives and the overarching goals of the 11th Congress of the VPA’s Party Organisation.
