WHO Delegation Visits UAE Field Hospital in Gaza

Rafah, The Gulf Observer: A delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the UAE field hospital in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, to assess the humanitarian and medical services being provided by the United Arab Emirates in support of Gaza’s healthcare sector amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
The WHO delegation included Luca Pigozzi, Acting Head of WHO’s Sub-Office in Gaza; Roy Cosico, Technical Officer for Emergency Medical Teams at WHO headquarters; and Heba Al Najjar, WHO Emergency Medical Teams Coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territory.
The delegation was welcomed by Ali Al Shehhi, Head of the UAE Mission in Gaza under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 and Director of the UAE field hospital. During the visit, Al Shehhi briefed the officials on the medical and treatment services offered to patients and the wounded in Gaza, as well as the medical assistance and support being delivered to hospitals throughout the enclave.
The WHO representatives toured various departments of the field hospital and reviewed its treatment, surgical and specialised healthcare services. They also examined the efforts of the UAE medical team in providing essential care and alleviating the suffering of residents affected by the crisis.
The delegation commended the UAE’s humanitarian and medical initiatives in support of the Palestinian healthcare sector and praised the role of the field hospital in delivering treatment and emergency care to patients and casualties in Gaza.
Al Shehhi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening Gaza’s healthcare services and continuing humanitarian efforts aimed at addressing the needs of the Palestinian people.
Since their establishment, the UAE field hospital in Rafah and the Emirates Medical Centre for Primary Care in Al Mawasi, Khan Younis, have provided medical treatment to nearly 97,000 patients from across the Gaza Strip, underscoring the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian and medical support for the territory.
