SPIEF 2026

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Russia is preparing to host the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2026) from June 3 to 6, with the event set to focus on the theme “Pragmatic Dialogue: The Path to a Stable Future,” according to Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

Speaking during a briefing on May 28, Zakharova described SPIEF as one of the key events on the global economic calendar, taking place amid significant transformations in the world economy and challenges facing the current model of globalization.

She said the forum would provide a platform for discussing practical solutions aimed at promoting sustainable development, strengthening technological sovereignty, and advancing what Russia views as a fair and multipolar framework for international cooperation.

Zakharova reiterated that Russia remains open to constructive and mutually beneficial economic partnerships and noted that the forum’s business agenda has been structured around five strategic tracks addressing major global economic and development challenges.

The Russian Foreign Ministry is expected to play an active role throughout the forum, with senior officials participating in a number of high-level discussions.

On June 4, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin will take part in a roundtable discussion titled “Union State: Time to Be First.” The following day, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin will address a thematic session on “Russia–APEC: Broad Cooperation Prospects on the Horizon until 2035.”

The Foreign Ministry’s Press Department will also organize a panel discussion on June 3 entitled “Your Words are Like Bullets: How Information Has Transformed into the Most Powerful Weapon of the Modern Era,” and will participate in a separate session examining the role and limitations of artificial intelligence in the media sector.

Zakharova further announced that the Foreign Ministry’s next regular briefing will be held on the sidelines of SPIEF 2026, underscoring the ministry’s active engagement in the forum’s discussions on international economic and geopolitical issues.
