Xi Jinping Calls for China to Become Cultural Powerhouse by 2035

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has underscored a strategic focus on advancing China as a global cultural powerhouse by 2035. Presiding over a CPC Central Committee Political Bureau study session on Monday, Xi emphasized the development of a socialist culture infused with distinct Chinese characteristics suited to a new era.

Xi highlighted the importance of grounding socialist cultural development in Marxist principles while reflecting China’s rich cultural heritage and the rapid evolution of information technology. He stressed fostering a culture that unifies, inspires, and exerts international influence.

“Since the 18th CPC National Congress, cultural advancement has been integral to national governance,” Xi stated, referencing the Party’s achievements in defining a socialist culture with Chinese characteristics for the new era. He affirmed the necessity of strong Party leadership in elevating governance capacity within the cultural sphere.

Xi urged efforts to support academic and artistic creativity, meet public cultural needs across all levels, and enhance the availability of cultural services and products. He also advocated for the creative preservation and development of China’s cultural heritage.

With a view toward increasing China’s global cultural influence, Xi called for expanding international exchanges and cooperation to strengthen China’s cultural soft power and to engage constructively with the achievements of other civilizations.
