25th UAE President’s Endurance Cup to Showcase Elite Equestrian Talent at Al Wathba
Al Wathba, The Gulf Observer: The Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba is set to host the prestigious 25th UAE President’s Endurance Cup on today, February 11th, marking a significant milestone in the annual UAE endurance racing calendar. The silver jubilee event, spanning 160km, is a testament to the rich tradition of endurance racing in the region and is held in partnership with the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation (UAEERF) under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Emirates International Endurance Village.
An elite gathering of male and female riders, mounted on some of the most robust horses from various stables across the UAE, the GCC, Arab countries, and international riders residing in the country, will compete in this six-leg race. The challenging course includes legs of 40km, 28km, 28km, 24km, 20km, and 20km, testing both the endurance of the riders and the stamina of their equine partners.
Emirati riders have consistently demonstrated their prowess in the championship, exchanging titles over the course of its 24-year history. The competition has witnessed 19 different riders claiming the prestigious title, with Sultan Ahmed Al Balushi securing three victories. Notable riders such as Sharif Mohammed Abdullah, Saeed Al Muhairi, and Khalifa Al Jahouri have each clinched the title twice. Al Wathba Stables, with an impressive record, leads as the most successful stable with eight titles.
Rashid Saeed Al Ketbi, the reigning champion from the previous edition, will be defending his title against a formidable field of competitors. As riders from various backgrounds converge at Al Wathba, anticipation is high for an exhilarating showcase of equestrian skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
