Gennady Golovkin Attends Awarding Ceremony for Nazym Kyzaibay at Paris 2024 Olympics
Paris, The Gulf Observer: Gennady Golovkin, President of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan and renowned boxing champion, participated in the women’s boxing awarding ceremony at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, as reported by the National Olympic Committee (NOC). Golovkin was invited by the International Olympic Committee to attend the event, where he awarded Nazym Kyzaibay, who secured a bronze medal in the women’s 50 kg category.
Kyzaibay, competing in her first Olympic Games, delivered a strong performance throughout the competition. In the semifinals, the 30-year-old Kazakh boxer faced world champion Wu Yu of China, ultimately losing by a points decision of 4-1.
Born on September 14, 1993, Nazym Kyzaibay is a seven-time national champion and two-time world champion. Her path to the Olympic medal included victories over Italy’s Giordana Sorrentino in the Round of 32, Brazil’s Caroline de Almeida in the Round of 16, and a hard-fought win against Colombia’s Lorena Valencia in the quarterfinals, where she triumphed with a 3-2 decision.
Kyzaibay expressed her joy at receiving congratulations from Golovkin, noting that she had never met him in person before, having only seen him on television. This encounter added a special moment to her Olympic journey.
