His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Visits Educational Institutions
Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, conducted visits to Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School, Sengkurong Primary School, and Awang Haji Mohd Yusof Katimahar Primary School on Saturday, August 31, following a house key presentation ceremony.
Accompanied by Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr. Romaizah Mohd Salleh, His Majesty began his tour at Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School, where he planted a durian pulu sapling and inspected the school’s pre-vocational programme, facilities, and exhibitions. The visit also included interactions with students and an attendance at a Year 7 drill performance.
Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School, which was established on May 9, 1994, and initially known as Tanjong Bunut Secondary School, was renamed on July 6, 1995. The school currently accommodates 1,052 students from Year 7 to Year 11, along with 123 teachers and 18 staff members.
Following the visit to Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School, His Majesty proceeded to Sengkurong Primary School and then to Awang Haji Mohd Yusof Katimahar Primary School in Kampong Katimahar. The latter school, which began operations in a temporary building on January 4, 1959, moved to a permanent building in 1964, with construction completed in October 1965 and the school beginning operations the following month. The school currently serves 309 students from pre-school to Year 6, supported by 35 teachers and 10 staff members.
